Former Kroger Executive joins Farmer, Lumpe + McClelland Advisory Board
Columbus, OH – William (Bill) Boehm, recent Senior Vice President and Officer of The Kroger Co., one of the world’s largest retail companies with sales of approximately $70 billion, joins Farmer, Lumpe + McClelland’s advisory board. The FLM Advisory Board provides outside strategic counsel both for the agency’s growing list of clients and its expanding staff.
Members of this distinguished Board contribute to select client projects as well as convene throughout the year to offer strategic advice to the agency as it continues on its track as one of the fastest growing independent midwestern agencies.
“Not only is Bill an accomplished leader, economist, visionary and strategic planner, but also an enthusiastic advocate for rural America. It is such an honor for our agency to add Bill to our team,” says Rob McClelland, FLM President. Perhaps at no other time in history has it been so important for our agricultural industry to understand consumer preferences, Bill’s experience with one of the largest food retailers in the world will help our clients gain powerful insights,” adds McClelland.
Boehm retired from Kroger in 2008 as President of Kroger Manufacturing, a Division which includes 36 food processing plants operated by 8,000 associates and sales of $4.2 billion.
Boehm joined Kroger in 1981 and held a number of increasingly responsible management positions. In addition, he has served on the Board of the International Dairy Foods Association and Milk Industry Foundation. While Senior Logistics Officer at Kroger he served on the board of Foodland, Inc. and currently is a member of the Board of Directors of Greatwide Logistics Services, a $1 billion distribution company in food transport.
Prior to Kroger, Boehm worked in Washington, DC as Senior Economist for Food and Agriculture, President’s Council of Economic Advisors, and Senior Economist and Research Manager, USDA. He has been Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics at Virginia Tech and co-authored numerous professional papers and textbooks.
Growing up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin, Boehm graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls and received his MS and PhD from Purdue University. He is a former National FFA Officer, National President of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, Chairman of National FFA Sponsors Board, Trustee for Farm Foundation and is currently serving on the Board of the Educational Foundation of Alpha Gamma Rho and as a Trustee of the UW-River Falls Foundation.
