Ted

+ Ted Priebe, Chair

Ted serves as FLM liaison to this Board of Advisors in addition to his role as full time senior consultant at FLM. Most recently Ted led the strategic branding and communications practice at Adayana, Inc. Prior to that he served as president/CEO of Meyocks & Priebe Advertising (Des Moines, Minneapolis, Madison, Chicago); president of Miller Meester Advertising (Minneapolis)—at the time the country’s largest agricultural communications firm. He is a past chairman of the Board of Purdue Alumni Association and recipient of the National Agri-Marketing Association Communicator of the Year Award. Ted holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Purdue University.

Kirby

+ Dr. Kirby Barrick, Member

Kirby has more than 25 years’ experience in the education and research fields. He recently served as dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Florida. Prior to that he held administrative positions at both the University of Illinois and The Ohio State University. Kirby helps FLM clients develop go-to-market strategies, build workforce development solutions and evaluate educational programs. He has authored or co-authored more than 125 articles and papers, delivered 150 invited papers, posters and workshops, and served as principal investigator for more than $7 million in grants and contracts. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and a PhD from The Ohio State University.

Bill

+ Dr. William (Bill) Boehm, Member

Bill has a career’s worth of experience in food economics and public policy. He most recently served as senior vice president and officer of The Kroger Co. Prior to that, he was senior economist for food and agriculture for the President’s Council of Economic Advisors and senior economist and research manager for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also has been assistant professor of agricultural economics at Virginia Tech. Bill works with FLM clients on strategic planning, economic forecasting as well as linking all elements of the food chain. Bill has authored and published a number of professional papers and co-authored several textbooks in the general area of food economics and public policy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin—River Falls and received his MS and PhD from Purdue University.

Charlie

+ Charles Fischer, Member

Charles Fischer most recently served as Chairman of the Dow AgroSciences Members Committee and is former president and CEO of Dow AgroSciences. Prior to that he served as global leader of Agricultural Chemicals and Urban Pest at Dow. He held a leadership role for the Central Indiana Life Sciences Initiative and was a board member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization. Charles was the first person to serve as president of both CropLife International and CropLife America. He was named 2002 Agribusiness Leader of the Year by the National Agri-Marketing Association and is a past chairman of the National FFA Foundation. Charles brings a unique international perspective and business acumen to FLM clients as well as understanding of agricultural input marketing. Charles is a graduate of Texas A&M University.

Al

+ Al Johnson, Member

Al brings more than 30 years of experience and expertise in agricultural publishing and public affairs to FLM’s Board of Advisors. Most recently he was deputy under secretary for Rural Development, United States Department of Agriculture having served Immediately prior to that as director of legislative and public affairs at the same agency. Known for his leadership and innovation in agricultural publishing as President of Farm Progress Publications, Al brings his publishing knowledge in addition to his strategic planning skills and government understanding to FLM clients. He continues to provide strategic consultation to governmental and non-governmental organizations and serves as the marketing director for Agri-Pulse Communications. Al is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in agronomy.
